Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose what is in the box?
The Harvest Box provides a variety of fresh fruits and veggies each week, which is an excellent opportunity to try new types of produce and learn new recipes, as each order comes with suggestions for preparing the food. However, if there is a certain item in the box you wish to exchange, you may do so when picking up your Harvest box, based on availability.
Do I have to commit?
Not at all! We encourage you to try out the Harvest Box the first month to see if it’s right for you. Afterwards, you can order as many boxes as you like!
What happens if I’ve paid for my order but am unable to pick it up on that day?
If you have already placed your order but are unable to pick it up, please phone us at 604.306.5012. Any orders not picked up by 4:00pm on pick up day will be re-distributed or donated to a local food bank.
What does it mean if the Harvest Box is ’sold out’?
As we are have a limited capacity in terms of vehicles and drivers to pick up the produce from the sorting depot, we can only provide a limited number of Harvest Boxes each month. Make sure to sign up early! If one month is sold out, you can always order future months in advance.
Can I pay with another method other than ordering online via credit card?
Yes! We want to ensure the Harvest Box is accessible for everyone. If you’d like to order via cash or cheque, please download the new Summer 2010 Harvest Box Order Form and mail your order along with payment or drop it off in person at our office (WMX 2621, in the Centre for Sustainable Community Development, just past the French department). If you have any questions, please email harvestbox@sfulocalfood.ca or call us at 778.782.8763 and we’ll be happy to help you.
I forgot to order by box this month, will you have any available to purchase on-site?
Please check at the Harvest Box depot in Convo mall during regular pick-up times. Occasionally we purchase a few extra boxes for folks who forgot to order or those that didn’t know about the program and just want to try it out.
How much are the SFU Local Food Project reusable bags?

To help us cover the costs of ordering and printing the bags, we are selling the bags at $4.00 each or are available on special when you order a bag along with the Harvest Box.
