How It Works
Feb 24th, 2011 by SFU Local Food Project

The SFU Harvest Box is a collaboration with the Fraser Region Harvest Box program, which works with local farmers to select produce based on price and season and then delivers produce to various neighborhood locations (including SFU!). At the SFU Local Food Project, we coordinate the orders we receive from students, place the order with the Fraser Region Harvest Box and distribute the Harvest Boxes to you!

1. Order Your Box
You can order anytime for our Spring 2011 Harvest Box deliveries. The Local Box is delivered on the second Thursday of the month, and the Value Box is delivered on the last Thursday of the month. When you purchase a Harvest Box you’re taking a step to redefine our food system, and support our farmers. Find out more about what is in our Harvest Boxes here.
- Local Harvest Box – $15.75 – All local, seasonal and organic* produce! The best way to support local growers and sustainable farming methods, and reduce your food miles!
- Value Harvest Box – $8.50 - Eating fruits and veggies can be affordable! This is a great option for students on a tight budget. We use local growers whenever possible, but you will often find imported produce from Washington, Oregon, and California.

2. Pick Up On Campus
On the second and last Thursday of the month, you will meet us in Convocation Mall to pick up your Harvest Box. We always send out a reminder email a couple of days before to confirm your order and the pick up location (sometimes we move inside if it is really cold!). Remember to bring your own reusable bag!
- Local Harvest Box: 2nd Thursday of the month between 12:30 and 4:00pm
- Value Harvest Box: Last Thursday of the month between 12:30 and 4:00pm

3. Enjoy
With each Harvest Box you will receive a newsletter with information on where your produce came from, nutrition tips, and great easy recipes. We also have a Recipe Blog that we updated frequently with great recipes that we find. Use these resources to get the most out of your Harvest Box and experiment with new cooking styles!
