Community Kitchens

What is a Community Kitchen?
Over the past twenty years the concept of community kitchens made an entry into the Lower Mainland, brought from stories and experiences from Latin American women organizing around food in their communities during times of great unrest. The concept is simple – people cooking together in a friendly and social atmosphere and then sharing what they make. Unlike at a soup kitchen, everyone who eats also participates in cooking the food, and groups are often smaller.
